For two years I have served as the Student Board Chair for the Global Civic Engagement (GCE) Advisory Board at FIU. GCE is focused on creating global citizens through local, national, and international engagement, centered on student leadership. The GCE is composed of a small group which are picked from a very selective criteria. GCE acts as team working together on managing a budget of $12,500 a year and create and award selection criteria to distribute funding to FIU applicants on a monthly basis. The seven-student body Board is directed and committed to the investment of active citizenship. The Board is responsible for facilitating training workshops and classroom presentations, thus promoting and enabling project development, community engagement, and social entrepreneurship. GCE has allowed funding for local projects as well as national and international projects. The Global Civic Engagement Advisory Board is dedicated to the cultivation of global conscious leaders who act on the development and enhancement of local communities.
